I was excited to read this book because of its popularity on Amazon and many other online resources that I frequent. I spend a lot of time researching books, reading (spoiler free) opinions about authors and their books and Tad Williams has been on my list of “authors to read” for a while. So having just set down my very first book from Mr. Williams, I’m happy to report that I enjoyed the story very much.
I was overwhelmed at the size of the novel (not to mention the extremely small text size!), but more often than not, a long book will tend to draw me in more than a short easy read. Any book that is under 400 pages is really just a “snack” for me. I love to be immersed in the story, and The Dragonbone Chair is a great book to find yourself lost in.
The main character starts out being a rather unlikable bratty kid, but by the end of the book this boy literally transforms into a man in just a month (the total amount of time this story encompasses). I’m sure I’ll be picking up the next book in the series, but unlike other epics I have enjoyed in the past, I haven’t already sprinted to the bookstore to start reading the next installment.
