This is the second time I have read this book and since I’m a huge fan of Robin Hobb, I can’t say that this review is going to be unbiased. In fact, I could probably right an essay on all beautiful details that were cleverly hidden in this amazing epic. After reading the whole series, I would not believe it if I hadn’t heard it from Robin Hobb’s own mouth that this whole series was not written before this first book was published. The depth and rich detail can only be appreciated when you take the time to re-read.
So, if I have to give some type of criticism, it would have to be the sloppy and confusing ending. I didn’t completely grasp the final events the first time I read it, and even on this second visit I still found myself re-reading passages because I felt lost in the details. But that makes very little difference to my overall enjoyment of this book. It was amazing the first time and I enjoyed even more this time.
