The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson is the third and final book of the Mistborn series. After finishing this series I am now a huge fan of Mr. Sanderson. I am in awe at the level of detail and story development that was put into these three books. The characters are very interesting and the magic system and world are all bursting with flourishes of creativity, but what really sets this book apart is the depth of detail in the story.
This final book does not build on the other two books, it completes them. The entire series is one complete flowing process of thought. As the story progresses there are new clues revealed that later fit to complete a masterful picture that paints a beautiful portrait of faith and love.
The Hero of Ages is very fast pace and with so many interesting characters there is never a boring moment throughout the whole book. It is also very raw and unrelenting for many of the battle scenes, but Mr. Sanderson is able to play a good balance of graphic scenes of war and the emotional toll of death and loss.
I have already tried to pour as many descriptions as possible into my two previous book reviews, so I don’t see that I can add much more, other than saying that this book is a masterpiece of epic story telling. What the reader may think is a casual character observation or minor plot thread could turn out to the a key turning point in the novel’s plotline. Keep your eyes sharp when you’re reading Mr. Sanderson’s book. I enjoyed the story as much as I enjoyed unraveling the mysteries throughout the entire Mistborn triology.

I have made the greatest friends ever. Miriam from the Hachette Book Group found my book blog and asked if I would be interested in reading some books from Little, Brown and Company publishing group. I (of course) said yes and she quickly sent me the upcoming book by David Baldacci. I’ve read and reviewed many books by Mr. Baldacci and for me to have the opportunity to help publicize his upcoming release is extremely exciting.
The Little Brown Group has been awesome. I’ve been emailing them several times a day with lots of silly questions and requests for other books and they have consistently been quick to respond with my new favorite thing to hear, “I’ll get that book out to you today.” (w00t!)
I’m really looking forward to getting involved in the book review team. Just to be a part of the group is a huge honor for me. So in summary, I just want to give a big thanks to Miriam, Anna, and Kelly. Thanks so much!
Oh and one last thing… When you get an advance reading copy of a book, it has a small printed sticker on it stating that it is not a full retail version. Also, it is a glossy paperback rather than a hardback. I just thought that was interesting. I’ve never seen a book like that before. (…and maybe I’m just a little too excited).
Look for lots more pre-release book reviews on Bookologists.com soon!

Children of the Mind by Orson Scott Card (book four of the Ender series)
I read book one of the Ender series a long time ago and I never thought I would continue reading into the series this far. The best book was book one (Hugo award!). But here I am halfway through book four and still very interested in the story. I don’t think I’ve ever read a series of books that diverge so far from the original storyline, but Mr. Card has still kept a fresh plot through out. But I’m not sure how long it will last.
I’ll see you on the other side of 334.

Shaman’s Crossing by Robin Hobb
I am about 170 pages into Robin Hobb’s latest trilogy and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I rarely read a series back to back, but I think I will be going on a rare Robin Hobb binge. It is THAT good.
The third book of the series is not released in the US right now, but a friend and I plan on getting shipped to us cause we can’t wait till next year for it to come out in the US. I say it again, it is THAT good.

I Am Legend by Richard Matheson
Ok ok, was lured into buying this book from the preview for the upcoming movie.
I hate seeing a cool movie and then finding out that there was an even better book it was based on.

A Feast for Crows by George RR Martin
I’m a quarter of the way through the fourth book in George RR Martin’s amazing series called A Song of Ice and Fire.
There are few books (and even fewer authors) that can move me so deeply with their stories. The list is short, but Mr. Martin’s series is on that list, as well as Robin Hobb and Terry Goodkind’s books.
